Our Patrons

Carol Spendilow

I am Carol Spendilow, and I am based in Sweden working as a corporate lawyer. I work as a contractor having the flexibility to work with charities along with my paid work. Children are so important to me and to everyone’s future and Better Together is doing a wonderful job in this area. My father is from Stoke-on-Trent and we have visited family and friends throughout the years and I have always loved Stoke. Being a patron feels like a wonderful way of giving back to this lovely community.

My name is Simon Blake and I am the Chief Executive of Mental Health First Aid England and deputy Chair of Stonewall. I am a keen runner, and a dog and horse lover who believes in the power and importance of kindness, community action and solidarity. I am delighted to be a Patron for Better Together because it embodies all three of those things and makes a real difference in the communities it works with and for.

I am Jo Gideon and as the local Member of Parliament for Stoke-on-Trent Central, I am delighted to have become a patron of Better Together Community Support Group for Stoke-on-Trent and NuL and offer my support to this truly worthy organisation which works to make a real difference in the local communities it works with and for.

My name is Ian Marsden and I am a paracanoeist.

My name is Matthew J. Bridger. I was delighted and honoured to be asked to become a Patron of Better Together Community Support Group for Stoke-on-Trent and NuL. As a social entrepreneur and a founder of a charity myself, I was very keen to offer my support to this truly worthy organisation which works to make a real difference in the local community. I have always been a strong supporter of mental health support and mindfulness and have been calling for a proactive approach to supporting mental health and teaching mindfulness within Schools and Youth Organisations, to provide young people with a toolkit for life, so I look forward to joining the volunteers on their community walks to promote physical and mental wellbeing.

I am Christine Warren and I am delighted to be a patron for the Better Together Community Support Group. Due to my experience within the community and council for many years, I became involved with charity. That was when I realised which vital part charities and their volunteers play for our community.
I followed the work of Better Together for a while and of course I happily agreed to be patron for the group. I am glad I can play a little part in supporting their fantastic work, especially the with the children and elderly.
