Paula the Puppy:

Paula is more than just our mascot — she is a trained assistance dog and a much-loved part of our community.

She gently supports both children and adults, helping them overcome their fear of dogs and building confidence through calm, positive interactions.

Paula has already made a difference in many lives. She supported one of our autistic toddlers, helped a volunteer’s daughter who was distressed, and even reassured a student from Regent College who was previously afraid of dogs — and now happily takes Paula for regular walks.

On one occasion, Paula stayed overnight with a member of staff. During the night, she alerted the parents that something wasn’t right with their baby. After a visit to A&E, it was discovered that the baby was experiencing breathing difficulties due to croup.

Paula has a remarkable ability to sense emotions. Through her gentle nature and affectionate personality, she provides comfort, reassurance and companionship to those who need it most.

She is truly part of the Better Together family.

Meet Paula the Puppy 🐾

Mae is our second mascot - a Cockerpoo but she believes she is a bouncy tigger.

Mae brings a warm, playful energy to her interactions, helping both children and adults build confidence around dogs and overcome their fears through positive, engaging, reassuring experiences and lots of cuddles and kisses.

Although, she is not fully treained as assistance dog yet, she asssists her human mum and alarms her when she is having a seizure.
